About Reema Datta

Reema Datta is the founder of The Yogi’s Way® – a holistic method that weaves movement and breath with yoga’s original teachings on the mind, emotions, and consciousness. Her work guides students toward clarity, vitality, and empowerment.

A teacher and speaker based in Taos, New Mexico, Reema has dedicated her life to making the deeper dimensions of yoga accessible, authentic, and transformative. She is the author of The Yogi’s Way: Transform Your Mind, Health, and Reality (New World Library, 2025), which blends ancient yogic wisdom with practical tools for modern life.

As a woman in a field historically shaped by male voices, she brings a vital, often missing female perspective – guiding students toward freedom from kleshas (destructive emotions) and the discovery of svadharma, one’s unique purpose.

Since 2002, Reema has led yoga and Ayurveda retreats in over 20 countries, working with luminaries such as Sting, Paul Simon, Edie Brickell, Sujatha Baliga, and Zainab Salbi, as well as health professionals and students worldwide.

In 2012, she fully devoted herself to The Yogi’s Way®, an innovative method that incorporates movement, breathwork, mantra, meditation, visualization, and the wisdom of the original yoga texts, including the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Yoga Sutras. Her signature HEAL YOURSELF NOW™ sequence is a cornerstone of this work, supporting emotional healing and inner transformation.

Reema holds degrees from Vassar College and the London School of Economics and previously worked for the United Nations. She is also the co-author of Sacred Sanskrit Words for Yoga, Chant, and Meditation and has released mantra albums through Nettwerk Music. Reema is a certified Ashtanga yoga and Tibetan Heart Yoga instructor and an Ayurvedic therapist.

Raised in a family of yogis, Reema was immersed in Vedic wisdom from birth. Her grandmother, an Ayurvedic practitioner, embodied resilience in the face of adversity, while her grandfather, a Vedic scholar, introduced her to yoga philosophy and pranayama. From the womb, she was surrounded by her mother’s mantra singing.

Reema’s greatest teacher? Her strong, independent daughter.
